come to life

::: OUR MISSION :::

To find rest for our souls in surrender

to the gentle and humble heart of Jesus

This describes the reason our church community exists, and it is based upon the beautiful invitation that Jesus gave to crowds of people in Matthew 11:28-30,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We want to work with Jesus to help people surrender to His yoke -- His teachings, which lead to the transformation of our heart into His gentle and humble heart. What will be the results of pursuing this mission? This leads to our...

::: OUR VISION :::

To be a united, growing family that embodies

the presence of Jesus to everyone we encounter.

This describes the ultimate goal of where we want to end up. This Vision of becoming like Jesus together is described in several Scriptures (e.g. John 17:20-23; 1 Corinthians 12; Romans 12; Colossians 3:1-17), but the clearest description is found in Ephesians 4:1-16. We encourage you to read these passages thoughtfully.

::: OUR VALUES :::

Our Values reveal how we intend to carry out the Mission to reach the Vision. They are based upon the three core biblical values of Faith, Love, and Hope (1 Thess. 1:2-3; 1 Cor. 13:13).

1. We Encourage FAITH…              Ex. 34:6; Prov. 3:5-6; Rom. 5 and 12; 2 Tim. 3:16-17

          • in the supreme goodness of God, who sacrificed everything to give us

             everything, transforming us from bitter enemies to His beloved bride.

          • in the Bible as the supreme revelation of God and the beautiful life

             He invites us to live in discipleship to Jesus.

          • through prayer, worship, serving, and giving as the greatest privileges

             we have to deepen our union with God through His Spirit.

2. We Encourage LOVE…                       Deut. 6:5; Lev. 19:18; 1 Cor. 13; 1 John 4:7-21

          • that emerges and overflows from the love of God for us,

             supremely displayed by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

          • that is kind, compassionate, and generous, freeing everyone

             to be honest with our struggles.

          • that is patient, merciful and forgiving, as God forgives us.

3. We Encourage HOPE…         Dan. 12:1-3; Matt. 28:18-20; 1 Pet. 1:3-9; Rev. 19-22

          • for all generations, young and old, in an eternal destiny with God

             that is more glorious than anyone can imagine.

          • for our local community and neighborhoods, as we pray for them,

             care for them, and share the good news of God with them.

          • for all the peoples of the world, as we support global mission efforts

             to make disciples of Jesus.

::: STATEMENT OF FAITH :::

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

    (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119; Proverbs 30:5-6)

  • We believe that there is one God who eternally exists in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - as revealed in the Bible.

    (Matthew 28:19; John 8:58, 14:8-11, 15:26; 2 Corinthians 3:17, 13:14)

  • We believe that Jesus is God the Son, fully God and fully human, born from a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed many miracles, was crucified in our place to atone for our sins, was physically resurrected from the dead, appeared to many of His followers, ascended to heaven to sit in authority over all things next to God the Father, and will return to Earth to reign as King over all.

    (John 1:1, 14; Luke 1:34-35; Hebrews 4:15; Mark 1:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Acts 1:11, 2:32-33;   Revelation 1:7-8)

  • We believe that all people rebel against God and need to be reconciled with Him.  This reconciliation, which is eternal life with God, is a gift from God that was made possible by the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross, and is found only through repentance and entrusting one's life to Jesus.  This saving faith is revealed by a sincere desire to eliminate sin in one's life and to follow God's righteous ways as Jesus leads us and as the Holy Spirit empowers us.

    (Romans 3:23, 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21; 1 Peter 2:24-25)

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit is a precious gift of God's intimate presence to those who give their life to Jesus.  The Holy Spirit gives us the truth and power necessary for a life that pleases God.

    (John 14:16-17; Romans 8:13-16; Galatians 5:16-25)

  • We believe that water baptism and the bread and drink of communion are symbolic reminders of God's gift of reconciliation with Him through the work of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and are means of real fellowship with God and His people.

    (Luke 22:18-20, 24:30-35; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25)

  • We believe that marriage is designed by God to be a sacred, living symbol of Christ's relationship with the Church, and embodied in a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman.                                     (Gen 1:27, 2:24; Matt 19:5, 22:30; 1 Cor 7:10-11, 11:3; Eph 5:25-32; Rev 19:6-9)
  • We believe that those who are reconciled to God will be resurrected and live forever with Him in eternal glory.  Those who reject God will live separated from Him and all goodness forever.

    (Matthew 25:31-36; 1 Corinthians 15:12-58; Revelation 20)

::: What is Worship? :::

Romans 12:1-2 says "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  Worship is a life completely surrendered to all of who God is, daily obedience fueled by God's love for us and ours for him.  Warren Wiersbe says it like this, “Worship is the believer’s response of all that they are – mind, emotions, will, body – to what God is and says and does.”   We are ascribing to God His worth, or value.   We are lifting our eyes toward God in awe and Reverence of who He is.  Worship is communing with God through prayers, reading and responding to scripture, giving, silence and meditation, and listening to God’s Word.  As we begin to understand who God is and the truth of what He offers us through Jesus Christ, we can’t help but respond in an attitude of worship.  Worship through praise is simply an outpour of our hearts to the truth of what God has done.  One of the ways scripture encourages us to be the Body of Christ is to “[teach] and [admonish] one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in [our] hearts to God”.  So we sing!!  Our corporate time of worship together is filled with singing though various styles of music and expressions of the heart as we give thanks to God as His people.
