At Biola, I longed to take Dr. Walt Russell’s “Hermeneutics & Bible Study Methods.” Though the class was full, a seat opened at the last moment, and I was accepted. This course transformed me. Each week, studying Scripture with this method felt like entering the Holy of Holies.  I realized how much I needed to unlearn narrow

interpretations, and how valuable this method would be for believers in China, where heresies abound.

I prayed that if God willed, He would move Dr. Russell to join me as a co-founder. Shortly after, his wife called and invited me to dinner. I shared my vision: to translate Dr. Russell’s book Playing with Fire, bring him to Taiwan for intensive teaching, record the course, and provide books and DVDs to seminaries in China. He agreed to partner with me, saying, “You need a big brother to protect you.”

Seeing the gap between poor translations of Christian resources and excellent secular ones, I felt compelled to bring high-quality resources from the U.S. to Chinese readers. A blind man who now sees naturally wants to help others see; a hungry person who finds food will call others to eat. In the same way, God stirred my heart to serve.

And that is how the Lifting Hands Network was born.
