Romans 12:1-2 says "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Worship is a life completely surrendered to all of who God is, daily obedience fueled by God's love for us and ours for him. Warren Wiersbe says it like this, “Worship is the believer’s response of all that they are – mind, emotions, will, body – to what God is and says and does.” We are ascribing to God His worth, or value. We are lifting our eyes toward God in awe and Reverence of who He is. Worship is communing with God through prayers, reading and responding to scripture, giving, silence and meditation, and listening to God’s Word. As we begin to understand who God is and the truth of what He offers us through Jesus Christ, we can’t help but respond in an attitude of worship. Worship through praise is simply an outpour of our hearts to the truth of what God has done. One of the ways scripture encourages us to be the Body of Christ is to “[teach] and [admonish] one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in [our] hearts to God”. So we sing!! Our corporate time of worship together is filled with singing though various styles of music and expressions of the heart as we give thanks to God as His people.
